In 2024, he directed the feature documentaries, “Lions of Mesopotamia” ( SXSW 2024) and “Personal Courage.” He created the Norman Lear executive-produced docu-series “America Divided.” He was principal cinematographer for the Primetime Emmy-winning “Years of Living Dangerously.” His film "99%" was an official 2013 Sundance selection. As a photojournalist and news producer, he spent nearly three years embedded with US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The first Asian American woman to direct a network pilot, her credits include “The West Wing,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “The Morning Show,” and “Fosse/Verdon,” which earned Emmy and DGA directing nominations. Her documentaries include the water crisis film “Last Call at the Oasis” and the Oscar-winning “Breathing Lessons.” Her award-winning book, “The Garden of the Lost and Abandoned,” chronicles a Ugandan journalist’s quest to reconnect children with their families.
