Oscar Winning Directors’ New Short Films Tell Powerful Stories Of What's At Stake In 2024 Election
Three world-class directors have come forward to release several new short films examining how White House policies can affect individual lives. Jessica Yu, Marshall Curry, and Lucian Read are award-winning filmmakers who connect their audiences with real stories of American lives in a way that’s never been done.
Democracy2025, in partnership with the Lincoln Project, presents four films examining reproductive rights, insulin prices, health care, and burn pit legislation. Each film shows the emotional and physical toll that governmental policy can have on individuals and families.
In a crowded political world of back-and-forth ads, this will reach voters on a different level. The films will be targeted to key voters in the key states.
Background on the directors:
Academy Award winner Jessica Yu, a brilliant director who won an Academy Award at 27 for short documentary. Her film is called, “It Couldn’t Happen Here” and examines reproductive rights and how recent legislation has destroyed the hopes and dreams of women.
Marshall Curry is an Academy Award winner who directed the incredible "A Night At The Garden" about the 1938 Nazi rally in Madison Square Garden. Marshal’s two films focus on health care. “Insulin Princess” profiles a North Carolina woman whose life was changed with $35.00 insulin prices. “Act Of Caring” talks to a Georgia mother who would have lost her child without the ACA.
Lucian Read is an accomplished film maker who has filmed extensively in Iraq and Afghanistan. “Continue The Mission” is about the burn pit legislation that Biden-Harris finally pushed through to reality.
